Designed for Working Professionals

  • Online or Classroom: You can take classes online or in a traditional classroom format. Classes are held in the late afternoon, evenings or online year-round, allowing you to enter the program in spring, summer or fall sessions. The MS in Accountancy program allows you to advance your business education without interrupting your career.
  • Multiple Locations: Courses are held at both our Monroe Street and Deming Way campuses as well as online.
  • Flexible Fee Payment: We provide a flexible fee payment schedule that allows you to pay for your classes after your grades are posted to take advantage of tuition reimbursement from your employer.

Exceptional Curriculum

  • CPA Exam Prep: By completing the program, you will have earned the prerequisite 150 credits to sit for the CPA Exam. Edgewood students receive a discount to the leading CPA review program in the country (Becker CPA Review) through our business partnership. 
  • AICPA Core Competencies: The MS Accountancy curriculum is a rigorous and thorough, experienced-based curriculum integrating critical thinking, real-world experience and values-based management. Coursework is grounded in an ethical value system which will serve students throughout their careers and personal lives and provide a foundation for ethical leadership. Students will utilize an electronic portfolio to demonstrate mastery of AICPA core competencies
  • Multi-Disciplinary Approach: Experts across disciplines contribute to the educational experience in a multi-media environment.
  • Prerequisite Coursework:  Earning the MS Accountancy degree provides an opportunity for students to gain specialized accounting skills; thus, specific course prerequisites are required prior to entering the program. Most candidates with accounting degrees will have met these prerequisites. However, candidates with degrees in business, liberal arts or other academic disciplines will need to complete the prerequisites before entering the 30 credit graduate program.
  • Small Class Size: Upper-level accounting classes typically have fewer than 15 students, which allows faculty to provide personal attention and individualized instruction.
  • Internships: Our network with firms in the area gives you unparalleled access to relevant internship opportunities.

 

Career Choices

  • On-Campus Recruiting: During our annual Career Fair, public accounting firms come on campus to recruit you for full-time positions and full-time internships.
  • Professional Portfolio: You may prepare an electronic professional portfolio capturing key projects and achievements for purposes of job interviews and career advancement.
  • Expansive Career Opportunities: Graduates have accepted positions in public accounting, private industry and the governmental sectors with organizations including: Baker Tilly, Strohm Ballweg, Wipfli, Wegner LLP, TDS, American Family, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue and more.

Additional Opportunities

  • Executive Speaker Series:  Edgewood College offers our MS in Accountancy students an opportunity to attend and network at executive speaker events throughout the year. Guest speakers include CEOs, CFOs and senior executives of prestigious area firms.
  • Accounting Club: This student-led organization serves to expand the experiences of accounting majors outside the classroom. Accounting Club events include speaker meetings, field trips to regional firms in both public and private practice, networking events with professional organizations such as the WICPA and with local firms in a career fair format.
  • Community Volunteer Opportunities: The Accounting Club actively coordinates the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) at sites in Madison and Stoughton.
